Design a Mirrored Wardrobe for Your Room
Get a custom mirrored wardrobe designed around your room, storage needs and preferred style.
A mirrored wardrobe uses mirror as the door panel, so the wardrobe doubles as a full-length mirror and you don’t need a separate one taking up floor or wall space. In a smaller bedroom that’s often the single change that makes the room feel larger, because the mirror returns the depth of the room back into itself.
Mirror is a panel material rather than a door system, so it can be fitted to either type of door. On sliding doors the mirror usually runs the full height of the panel; on hinged doors it can go on selected doors only, or on the inside face where you’d rather not see it from the bed.
Sultan’s Wardrobes makes mirrored wardrobes to the measured size of your opening, in clear or tinted mirror, full panel or combined with a solid panel.
With more than 20 years specialising in wardrobes, Sultan’s Wardrobes provides a free in-home measure and quote and works directly with Sydney homeowners from design through to installation.

Mirror can cover the whole door, part of it, or sit on the inside face – on either sliding or hinged doors.
Full-height mirror on sliding panels – the most common mirrored wardrobe.
Mirror on one or two doors in the run rather than across the whole wardrobe.
Mirror combined with a solid or woodgrain panel in the same door.
Bronze or grey tints that soften the reflection and warm the room.
Taller mirrored panels that carry the reflection the full height of the room.
Mirror fitted to the inside face of a door, hidden when the wardrobe is closed.

Transform Your Space with Mirrored Wardrobes
Made-to-measure mirrored wardrobes designed to maximise storage, light and space in your home.
Mirroring every door is not always the right answer. How much mirror to use, and where it faces, changes how the room feels far more than the mirror finish does.
| Your Situation | Usual Approach |
|---|---|
| Small or narrow bedroom | Mirror across all doors |
| Wide wardrobe run, 3m or more | Mirror on one or two doors only |
| Wardrobe faces the bed head-on | Part-mirror, tinted, or mirror inside |
| Room already gets strong daylight | Tinted mirror to reduce glare |
| You want a dressing mirror only | Mirror on the inside of one door |
A full wall of mirror in a large room can end up feeling more like a studio than a bedroom. Breaking the run with one or two solid panels usually gives you the light without that effect.
| Finish | Effect |
|---|---|
| Clear (silver) | Brightest and most reflective; the standard choice |
| Bronze tint | Warmer, softer reflection; suits timber tones |
| Grey / smoked | Cooler and more muted; less mirror-like |
| Antique | Aged, patterned surface; decorative rather than functional |
Where the mirror faces a window, positioning matters more than finish. Mirror set opposite or at an angle to a window will carry daylight further into the room; mirror directly beside a window does comparatively little.
We’ll walk through the options in your actual room during the free measure, where the effect is much easier to judge than from a sample.
Mirror used on wardrobe doors is not the same as a plain mirror hung on a wall. Wardrobe mirror is supplied with a backing applied to the rear face, so that if the glass is ever broken the pieces are held together rather than falling free. This is what makes full-height mirrored doors suitable for a bedroom, including rooms used by children.
Alongside the backing, a few things matter in how mirrored doors are built and installed:
Mirror is heavier than a melamine or woodgrain panel of the same size, which is why a mirrored hinged door often takes one more hinge than a solid door of the same height, and why panel widths on sliding doors are kept sensible rather than pushed to the maximum.
We’ll confirm the exact mirror specification for your wardrobe as part of your quote.

Mirror sits on the front of the door, so it makes no difference to what goes inside the wardrobe. The internal layout is configured the same way as any other custom wardrobe.
Because a mirrored wardrobe removes the need for a separate freestanding mirror, it often frees up a corner of the bedroom that was previously given over to one.
| Wardrobe Internal | Best For |

| Double Hanging | Shirts, jackets, skirts and folded trousers |
| Full-Length Hanging | Dresses, coats and longer garments |
| Adjustable Shelving | Folded clothing, bags and linen |

| Shoe Storage | Footwear kept organised and accessible |
| Overhead Storage | Suitcases, bedding and seasonal items |

Your Space. Your Storage. Your Wardrobe.
Choose the mirror, doors, finishes and internals that suit your room and the way you use it.
Mirrored wardrobes are common in Sydney apartments for two reasons: bedrooms are often on the smaller side, and there is rarely spare wall space for a separate full-length mirror.
In an apartment bedroom the mirror usually goes on sliding doors, since the bed tends to sit close to the wardrobe. Where the wardrobe faces the bed directly and you’d rather not look at yourself from it, a tinted mirror or a part-mirror door softens the effect without giving up the light.
Apartment installations may require planning around:
Mirrored panels are delivered in one piece and handled carefully, so lift size and stairwell access are worth mentioning when you book, particularly for floor-to-ceiling doors in older buildings.
Usually not. In NSW, a wardrobe fitted inside an apartment is generally considered cosmetic work and does not normally require owners corporation approval.
You should still check your building’s by-laws, particularly where structural changes or common property may be involved.

Built Around Your Space
Create a custom mirrored wardrobe that fits your room, storage needs and preferred style.
Yes. Mirror used on wardrobe doors carries a backing applied to the rear face, so if the glass is broken the pieces are held together rather than falling loose.
The mirror is also set into a frame and fixed to a backing board rather than left with exposed edges. We’ll confirm the exact specification for your wardrobe as part of your quote.
They make a room feel larger and brighter rather than actually being larger, and the effect depends heavily on placement.
Mirror set opposite or at an angle to a window carries daylight further into the room and is the most noticeable improvement. Mirror on a wall that only reflects another blank wall does much less.
Not always. In a small bedroom, mirroring every door usually works well.
Across a wide run of 3m or more, a full wall of mirror can feel more like a studio than a bedroom, so mirroring one or two doors and leaving the rest solid is often the better result.
If the wardrobe faces the bed directly, a tinted mirror or a part-mirror door softens the effect.
Yes. Mirror is a panel material, not a door system.
On sliding doors it usually runs the full height of the panel.
On hinged doors it can go on selected doors, across the whole run, or on the inside face of a door so it’s hidden when the wardrobe is closed.
Yes, noticeably. A mirrored hinged door of the same height often takes an extra hinge compared with a melamine one, and panel widths on sliding doors are kept sensible rather than pushed to the maximum.
The weight is accounted for in how the doors are specified, so day to day they should still move easily.
A soft cloth with a little glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth rather than directly onto the mirror. Spraying the mirror lets liquid run down to the bottom edge and sit there, which is what damages the backing over time.
Moisture reaching the backing at the edge, usually over a long period. It shows as a dark or cloudy band creeping in from the border.
Keeping cleaning liquid off the edges and away from the base of the door is the main thing that prevents it, which is why mirrored wardrobes are better suited to bedrooms than to bathrooms or laundries.
Approximately 2-6 weeks from final approval to installation, with installation usually completed in one day.
Often yes, provided the existing opening or carcass is sound and square enough. We’ll check it at the measure and let you know whether new doors alone will work or whether the wardrobe is better replaced.
Yes. Removal and disposal of existing wardrobes and mirrored doors can be arranged as part of the installation. Mention it when booking your measure so it can be assessed and included in your quote.
Yes. Sultan’s Wardrobes installs mirrored wardrobes in apartments as well as houses. Apartment projects may require additional planning around parking, lift access, loading and building rules, particularly for full-height mirrored panels.
Mirrored wardrobes are covered by a 10-year warranty on workmanship and wardrobe components.
Soft-close hinges, door brakes and drawer systems are available as an upgrade. They are not included as standard.
