A floor-to-ceiling built-in wardrobe runs the full height of the room, from the floor to the ceiling.
There’s no gap above it to gather dust and no wasted space.
Each wardrobe is made to measure for your room’s height, so it looks like part of the house, not a piece of furniture.
Why build to the ceiling?
The space above a standard-height wardrobe is often the most under-used storage in a bedroom. Take the wardrobe to the ceiling and the top section becomes overhead storage for things you don’t need every day – suitcases, spare bedding, seasonal clothes, keepsakes.
Hanging space and drawers stay at an easy height. Full-height doors also make a room look taller and tidier.
How we fit a wardrobe to your ceiling height
We measure the height at several points across the wall during the free measure and quote, because Sydney ceilings are rarely perfectly level.
Any difference is scribed out so the finish is tight to the ceiling with no visible gaps. Full-height wardrobes can also be built around bulkheads, cornices and sloped or raked ceilings.

Floor-to-ceiling wardrobes work with sliding, hinged or mirrored doors. The internals are usually split into three zones.

A full-height wardrobe uses more board and larger doors than a standard-height one, so the height affects the price.

Approximately 2-6 weeks from final approval to installation, with installation usually completed in one day.
Do I need strata approval for a built-in wardrobe?
Usually not. In NSW, a built-in wardrobe is generally considered cosmetic work and does not require owners corporation approval. You should still check your strata by-laws, particularly if structural changes or common property are involved.
What's the difference between a built-in and walk-in wardrobe?
A built-in wardrobe is installed along a wall or within a recess and is accessed directly from the room. A walk-in wardrobe is a separate space you enter, with storage arranged across multiple walls.
Can you build around sloped ceilings or uneven walls?
Yes. Sultan’s Wardrobes can design wardrobes around raked ceilings, uneven walls, alcoves and non-square spaces. The final layout is determined during the in-home measure.
Do you remove old wardrobes?
Yes. Removal and disposal of existing wardrobes can be arranged as part of the installation. Mention it when booking your measure so it can be assessed and included in your quote.
What is the standard depth of a built-in wardrobe?
Sultan’s Wardrobes typically builds wardrobes approximately 600-650mm deep, providing enough depth for adult clothing on standard hangers. Custom depths are also possible where required.
Can a built-in wardrobe go all the way to the ceiling?
Yes. Every built-in wardrobe we make is measured for your room, so it can run from floor to ceiling. The top section is usually overhead storage. We scribe the wardrobe to uneven ceilings and can work around bulkheads and raked ceilings.
Do you install built-in wardrobes in apartments?
Yes. Sultan’s Wardrobes installs wardrobes in apartments as well as houses. Apartment projects may require additional planning around parking, lift access, loading and building rules.
What warranty do you provide?
Built-in wardrobes are covered by a 10-year warranty on workmanship and wardrobe components.
Is soft-close included?
Soft-close hinges and drawers are available as an upgrade. They are not included as standard.
